MADRID, 6 (EUROPA PRESS)

The Notaries Society of Madrid has created the Fundación Notarial SIGNUM to promote the development of alternative methods or out-of-court resolution of commercial and civil disputes nationally and internationally, according to the society in a communiqué.

The purpose of the initiative is to boost the use of mediation as a «faster, more economical and satisfactory» method than the judiciary to resolve disputes and contribute to release Spanish courts.

Fundación SIGNUM has then created a mediation centre specialized in providing services to companies and individuals with a team of mediators, experienced notaries and mediation professionals.

All of them have been trained according to the best standards of the United States (US), where mediation successes exceed 71% for blocked disputes that otherwise would have ended up in court.

Mediation has a high development potential in the most relevant countries of the European Union, and the Spanish Government regulated it in the recent Royal Decree-Law 5/2012 of March 2, 2012.

The new RDL provides mediation with «more safety, confidenciality and legal force» and ensures that in an immediate future more than 50% of commercial and civil disputes can be resolved avoiding going into court, according to notaries.
